I find and declare that the imposition of the fees hereinafter proclaimed are shown by such investigation of the Commission to be necessary in order that the entry of imported shelled almonds, blanched, roasted, or otherwise prepared or preserved almonds (not including almond paste) will not render or tend to render ineffective, or materially interfere with, the said program undertaken by the Department of Agriculture with respect to almonds.

They promise to cut the farmer loose, and take his chances in the marketplace.

Every American farmer can bear witness to the benefits which have accrued from your administration.

It is also due to your foresight that agriculture has not gone into the decline which was so disastrous to American farmers after World War I.

Take, for example, the agricultural family.

And I think that if the farmer's wife all the way through the country had it explained to her, about the cost of living to her, I think the farmer's wife would appreciate it, and understand it, and go along with the effort to stabilize the cost of living.

The objective, of course, of the Administration on that was after very, very many years to bring the price of agricultural commodities up to parity.

I feel that most farmers realize that when farm prices go much above parity, danger is ahead.

It was unfortunate also that the provision for agricultural relief through the Reconstruction Corporation was omitted.

They also discussed methods further to coordinate all economic agencies engaged in assistance to business, employment, and agriculture.
