I want you to look into that. That is coming from near and dear, from my heart.

The traditional harvesting culture in Alaska Native communities remains really strong.

We have sacrificed a lot on the Yukon, from salmon gear to fishing times, of the whole people on Yukon River.

Failure to do so will be a death blow to my river, to my people, and our survival, before we go extinct.

It is my hope that these comments... will illuminate the crisis that has unfolded in our communities...

We appreciate Senator Murkowski's work to assist AYK salmon populations through Congressionally-directed spending in support of research, monitoring, and co-management.

We, the end users, the little people, the people that matter, have been silenced, we have been ignored.

We need some answers. We need to be heard. We cannot accept this as a government formality for turning a deaf ear on the poor.

Stop allowing the status quo so as to not affect industry harvest to the extent practicable in fisheries management.

Congress should support and invest in Alaska Native peoples to increase our capacity to protect our interests in the lands and waters.

I think we recognize, as important as your Federal delegation is, Federal legislative changes are just tough.

We are tired. No more.

If we don't fish, we don't eat. It is pretty basic.

It is time for a change.
