As it comes to specific proposals on any restructuring that’s necessary, we’ll talk about it.

I believe that we need to have a strong police commissioner, No. 1. I have highly recommended that he retain Jessica Tisch.

Crime can not go up under the next administration, it just can’t.

What I can say is that I’m appreciative of the fact that it’s on the ballot and that New Yorkers have a chance to weigh in.

Our neighborhoods will get less truly affordable housing, less investment, and will be vulnerable to more unwelcome, unwanted gentrification.

We want the same thing that a majority, an overwhelming majority, of Americans want, which is to end this shutdown and halt the health care crisis that will send premiums spiking for tens of millions of people.

I am praying for the return of all the hostages and the dismantling of Hamas and the end of violence in the region.

After five failed votes, it should be clear to Republicans that we cannot go forward unless they sit down and seriously negotiate with Democrats to address the health care crisis. It’s that simple.

The language that voters will see on Nov. 4 on their ballot to describe these proposals actually hides their true impact.

All I can tell you is the American people feel very deeply about solving this health care crisis.

It’s not about housing.

I support the ballot proposals because I think they will eliminate local opposition and spur more affordable housing construction.

This is nothing new and has nothing to do with funding the government. These unnecessary firings will either be overturned in court or the administration will end up hiring the workers back, just like they did as recently as today.

Every poll we have seen shows [the American people] want us to do it.

The beauty of New York City is that we celebrate and respect all our diverse communities and cultural heritage.

As mayor of the city with one of the largest Italian populations in the world, I am proud that we celebrate Italian-American heritage, today and every day.

The law is clear — every single furloughed federal employee is entitled to back pay — period, full stop.

We also recognize the contributions of our indigenous community and are proud to establish a new special grant program for cultural programs and art projects representing that community.
