The Biden administration has tried a strategy from the start which was hugging Israel close, support it publicly and privately express your disagreements.

They were opposed to the major massive ground invasion. There were opposed to not setting up many humanitarian corridors.

Vandalism, trespassing, breaking windows, shutting down campuses, forcing the cancellation of classes and graduations, none of this is a peaceful protest. Threatening people, intimidating people, instilling fear in people is not a peaceful…

We are not an authoritarian nation where we silence people or squash dissent, but neither are we a lawless country. We are a civil society. An order must prevail. There's the right to protest, but not the right to cause chaos.

Destroying property is not a peaceful protest. It's against the law. Vandalism, trespassing, breaking windows, shutting down campuses, forcing the cancellation of classes and graduations, none of this is a peaceful protest.

There is a good compromise out there, and I think if we are smart and don't give up today, we will find it.

If I had known--as you know, the breadth of the issues that we cover in this Committee are enormous. It is impossible for any of us to fully master each of them.
