This governor has been tone-deaf on everything that`s happened in Uvalde and all of rural Texas, quite frankly.

Let`s have a special session on mental health. My God, we are last in funding in mental health in the United States.

He knows better. He`s a lawyer, former attorney general, former Texas Supreme Court justice. He knows the Constitution. He knows better, but yet he doesn`t have the courage to do what`s right.

He’s failed this community, and he’s continuing to do so.

Let’s have a special session on mental health. My God, we are last in funding in mental health in the United States.

It took Rick Scott 23 days after Parkland to do that in Florida. And yet this governor in Texas doesn`t have the fortitude necessary to do the right thing or to listen to his constituents.

Greg Abbott has probably had more to do with people dying in this state than any governor, any governor in our history.

The abject failure was indeed the Department of Public Safety as well. And there`s no two ways about it.

Operation Lone Star, a plused-up immigration task force failed these children. Greg Abbott`s task force failed these children.

But you know, we have got to get -- we are past that moment right now. And we`ve got to look at trying to get answers for these families. So that`s what I`m looking forward to. Trying to find answers and accountability.

To date, we have failed these families and my constituents are demanding a full accounting of the horrors of that day.

We have a governor who`s, you know, stuck his head back at the bench in Austin. He`s not really willing to do much of anything. He hasn`t been out to Uvalde. He hasn`t talked to families. He`s refused to talk to families.
