Pete V. Domenici is a former United States Senator from New Mexico, serving from 1973 to 2009. A member of the Republican Party, he was known for his work on budgetary issues and energy policy. During his tenure, he played a significant role in shaping legislation related to nuclear energy and national defense. Domenici was also involved in various bipartisan efforts, particularly in the areas of health care and education reform. He was a prominent advocate for fiscal responsibility and was instrumental in the passage of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997.
The Iraqi view of the job being done by Ambassador Bremer are remarkably positive.
I believe the single-most important question asked of their Representatives and Senators by our people is, 'Well, I'm for him, but what's the plan?'

I urge, as strongly as I can, that as soon as possible, 2 weeks, not 2 years, that you put forth, under the auspices of the Ambassador and the leader of the Iraqi provisional government, the plan.
Believe me, believe me, believe me, the public does not believe there's a plan because you can't sell what you've got.
It would be a beautiful day if the three of you, two Generals and you, stood up and said, 'Well, we want the American people now to see the plan.'
