The Federal Government has a responsibility under our Treaty of 1868 and a trust obligation to protect and assist the nation, all tribal nations, securing and developing our people, land, and resources.
By passing S. 1895, Congress is honoring Indian treaties, including our Navajo treaty of 1868, and upholding the Federal trust responsibility.
The realities of life on the Navajo Nation is harsh. And in many places, there is a lack of water, electricity, and the basic needs of life.
Navajo Nation and many Tribes across the country would like to see Congress pass a Native American Voting Rights Act.
