I have set ambitious targets in the Housing Action Plan and we need to keep our shoulder firmly to the wheel. I want more homes delivered and thousands of people are counting on that progress. I'm under no illusion about it.

I am genuinely appalled that the type of contact we are hearing about happening would be made in the first place to any public representative, but then for it to be in any way targeted at our female elected members is unacceptable.

This is going to be implemented and will be implemented in time for the next local elections.

I think it's a social good for somebody to be able to live where their family lives, where their friends are, where they grew up, and it adds to that local community.

This is about bringing a sensible approach where people can reasonably be able to build a home in their own local community, but also respecting the climate.

That's so that Fáilte Ireland will create a register of short-term lets, and to be on that register you will have to have planning permission.

Airbnb will have to comply with the law and I would expect both the planning authorities and Fáilte Ireland to be very robust in actions against Airbnb, or any platform that [facilitates] illegal activity on their website.

I want those homes and those, as many as possible, back into use, available as homes, either to own or to rent, so as residential purposes, because it is impacting the housing crisis, in particular in the long-term rental sector,
