I was notified when the raids were happening.

I talked to the chief an hour ago. No, we’re not notified of anything.

We do not know where and when the next raids will be. That is the concern.

These tactics sow terror in our communities and disrupt basic principles of safety in our city.

What we're witnessing is not law enforcement — it's authoritarianism.

This brazen abuse of power by a sitting president enflamed a combustible situation, putting our people, our officers and even our National Guard at risk.

Trump, without consulting California leaders, commandeered 2,000 of our state's National Guard members to deploy on our streets illegally and for no reason.

An absolutely shameful use of taxpayer dollars that could be used to actually HELP people.

$134 million should be going to LA’s fire recovery and is shameful.

The White House instigated this by having ICE raids in our city.

This is not an insurrection.

If you drive through downtown L.A., the graffiti is everywhere and has caused significant damages.

By the way, Trump, he’s not opposed to lawlessness and violence, as long as it serves him. What more evidence do we need than Jan. 6?

This is about all of us. This is about you. California may be first – but it clearly won’t end here. Other states are next. Democracy is next.

If some of us can be snatched off the streets without a warrant – based only on suspicion or skin color – then none of us are safe.

What Donald Trump wants most is your fealty. Your silence. To be complicit in this moment. Do not give into him.
