If we want to talk about reducing crime and violence in America, you need to talk about guns in America—you need to talk about guns.

We need your help in fighting and standing up to the gun lobby, gun manufacturers, the politicians who oppose commonsense gun legislation.

There’s nothing beyond our capacity—we’re the only nation in the world that’s come out of every crisis stronger than we went in.

I have held the hands of far too many mothers and fathers to try and comfort them after their child was killed by gun violence.

Gun violence is now the number one cause of death for children in America—not car accidents, not cancer—gun violence.

I believe the right to be safe is a civil right—and that the people of America have a right, then, to live, work, worship, and learn without fear of violence, including gun violence.

I am in favor of the Second Amendment, and I believe we need to reinstate the assault weapons ban and pass universal background checks, safe storage laws, and red flag laws.

In candor, I share with you, Mr. President, there are some in my country who would instead force Ukraine to give up large parts of its sovereign territory.

These proposals are the same of those of Putin. And let us be clear: They are not proposals for peace. Instead, they are proposals for surrender, which is dangerous and unacceptable.

Each one of these principles is at stake in Ukraine, and that is why Ukraine’s fight matters to the people of America.

The United States supports Ukraine not out of charity but because it is in our strategic interest.

As I have made clear on our six previous meetings and throughout Putin’s brutal aggression and war against Ukraine, my support for the people of Ukraine is unwavering.

To be safe, secure, and prosperous, the United States must continue to fulfill our long-standing role of global leadership.
