I’m announcing a historic action to rescue our nation’s capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor, and worse.

We’re going to restore the city back to the gleaming capital that everybody wants it to be.

Washington, D.C. will be LIBERATED today! Crime, Savagery, Filth, and Scum will DISAPPEAR. I will, MAKE OUR CAPITAL GREAT AGAIN!

I’m going to make our Capital safer and more beautiful than it ever was before.

We will bring in the military if needed.

You’re going to see police, or you’re going to see FBI agents — going to have a lot of agents on the street.

And we’re not going to let it happen anymore.

I’m going to look at New York in a little while, to see if we need to do this

The murder rate in Washington is higher than that of Bogotá, Colombia and Mexico City
