Mr. Speaker, both of my grandfathers were born in Lebanon. It is a heritage of which I am proud. I am proud as well about the relationship between our two countries. I am proud of the Lebanese people. I am proud of the contributions that the Lebanese society has given to not only America but to the world and vice versa. We can look across all sectors of American life, cultural, educational, medical, and see examples of where our two people have worked closely for the betterment of humankind. And that relationship is strong. It has been strong over decades and decades, and it will continue to be strong. I have traveled Beirut a number of times. I was there at the height of the Israeli bombardment in July/August of 1982. I have been in Lebanon at the height of the fighting, at the height of the hostage taking.
