The University of New Orleans has developed an entrepreneurship program designed not only to assist in the development of skills, but also to assist in the creating of individual, family, and small businesses in our inner cities. The two things go hand in hand--providing training and skills development and then seeing that there is a job in which the training skills can be used. UNO has held discussions on this program with HUD and I believe that it is the type of activity which HUD should be supporting. Consequently, I would hope that we could urge HUD to pursue this effort with UNO whether it be through the Neighborhood Networks Program or some other means.
