We are doing a fantastic job of shattering the reputation of this committee and of Congress.

I think we find ourselves in another unique situation where bureaucrats in Washington know far better how to run our community banks and our credit unions than our community banks and our credit unions do.

But if you are from a lot of our districts, this is tough.

I want to move back to our salary conversation, not to beat a dead horse.

I think it is fantastic that we have a bipartisan understanding that Dodd-Frank isn't perfect and that there is room to improve the law that was written a few years ago.

Home ownership is associated with the American dream, and so many more Americans aren't going to be able to access that dream because of these rules.

I have dropped a bill to that effect, so maybe we will see how much support we get from the CFPB.

Everyone on this committee, and probably in Congress, agrees that we needed some changes to how our lenders were making loans.

Now I think with this rule we have swung the pendulum all the way over to the other side, instead of maybe going back to some of the standards that we used when the system actually worked.

A powerful agency that has a huge impact on a very important segment of our economy shouldn't be run by one director.

The CFPB is run by a single, politically appointed Director.

You are very powerful. You are very aggressive.

But I think what we are starting to see here too is an agreement that we understand one size doesn't fit all.

I think we have engaged in a really nice conversation today to try to find some solutions on how we can move forward to truly end too-big-to-fail.

I think many of us would disagree with that standard.
