Because all amendments that can be considered to S. 728, the Water Resources Development Act of 2006, had to be filed prior to the bill coming to the floor, I would like to inquire of the bill managers whether or not they would agree with me that reasonable modifications by the authors to their amendments would be acceptable as is the normal Senate practice.

I don't think there's any question. They were egging each other on. It would have taken very little for somebody to try to up the ante and actually hang Mike Pence or kill somebody who they could get their hands on.
What they're putting out is you've heard of fake news. This is fake law. This is literally made-up law.
These Republican senators just have to know that their lives will go on, that they don't have to kowtow to President Trump anymore.
