it's very damaging to the judiciary when a judge's neutrality can be questioned which is why I think, obviously, the ethical choices of a judge must be beyond reproach.

You may apply a legal standard to whether or not you should recuse yourself, but it's her decision. There's no appeal from it. She's not mandated to do it or not do it.
