But I do not want people to be under the impression that we do not believe that we can provide some tax relief in these budgets. I think we can as long as we do it in a fiscally responsible and disciplined manner so we do not lock into some long-term commitment that could come back and haunt us and start adding to rather than detracting from the debt. It is sad tomorrow we are going to have a budget resolution that virtually spends the entire projected surplus that may not even materialize. But what is even sadder is that we have got the Republican candidate for President out there running who is calling for an even larger tax cut plan than what is being proposed in the majority party's budget resolution tomorrow. I just brought with me today what perhaps is the saddest part of this whole debate, and that is that there is a comic strip in this country that is probably more reflective of where the American people are on our responsibilities and Social Security and Medicare and debt reduction than the governing parties in this Congress.
