Jansen's dominance over the world of speedskating was proven in the past as he skated to numerous world championships over the last 10 years. The Lillehammer Olympics are the crowning achievement of his career after tragedy and hardship stood in his way in past Olympic competitions. With the eyes of the world upon him, Jansen came through with a gold medal performance that sent shivers up the spines of those who witnessed the world record event. Dan Jansen personifies the dedication and perseverance of an Olympic champion.
