I am very concerned about the House GOP calling for steep cuts to critical programs like our Federal Food Assistance.

It is not going to be easy, but we have to live up to our responsibility to pass these funding bills in a timely, bipartisan way to keep our families strong, and our economy strong, and our country competitive on the world stage.

We have to make sure that our food supply is secure, and that means protecting our families from unsafe food.

I do look forward to working with both of you, and Vice Chair Collins, and everyone on this subcommittee, as we return to regular order for the first time in years.

We have to stay vigilant against the growing threat of white supremacy and domestic terrorism.

Last year I raised concerns about processing backlogs at USCIS.

We have a responsibility to work in a timely fashion to write a bipartisan funding bill that will keep our communities safe and our nation competitive on the stage.

Our economy depends on our ability to make sure that countless goods as well as people can move through our ports and borders in a safe, orderly, and timely fashion.

We have to maintain our reputation as the leader of the free world, as the land of opportunity.

Throughout our history immigrants have strengthened our nation.

Families back home are really counting on us to work in this committee and across the Appropriations in a timely bipartisan way.

Fighting food insecurity, and getting family support, is a priority of mine, as we negotiate the Farm Bill as well, this year

We can't have strong communities if people can't put food on the table

Does the President's budget request support any additional mental health?

We need to make sure that not only the Navy has the resources they need, but the Everett community also has the support it needs.

The Navy's long-term commitment to Everett and Snohomish County, my State, is really clear.

We need a whole of government approach here and let's be clear whole of government includes this subcommittee.

It's critical funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is providing opportunities for small and disadvantaged businesses in our communities.

I look forward to working with you and Vice Chair Collins and all the members of this subcommittee as we return to regular order and work to find common ground to build a strong, competitive economy for families across our country.

It really starts, as you well know, with making sure that everyone has a roof over their head and no one is left on the streets or out in the cold.
