Entering foster care is a life changing experience for children.

And so, if we could just change the way we think and just say does this make the kid's life easier or harder?

So, if the Federal Government would just rearrange its way of thinking, which is what we've had to do in Florida as we wrote this law.

On top of all this change, we know some child welfare policies have the unintended effect of making life even harder for our children.

Children in foster care deserve our protection. But they also deserve the same opportunities as other kids.

What we need to do is work together for the American people to make sure that the tax law works for them.

They need a simpler tax form. They need a fairer tax form.

it doesn't make sense to me that the government is going to take away from a prudent man who has worked hard his entire life.

Too many people are out of work.

Fourteen months ago, Republicans and Democrats in the House and the Senate agreed on commonsense reforms to the unemployment insurance system designed to help more Americans return to work sooner.

We cannot sit idly by when people need help finding jobs.

Do you think we can balance or make Medicare solvent in perpetuity by leaving the system in the exact same way that it is today?

I want Medicare to be solvent. I don't want people that are 50... to say, I am 54, and all you are telling me is that it is going to be bankrupt?

The bottom line is that the system is going bankrupt. It is going to be underfunded. We need to solve it.

I note that these tax increases would take the form of higher Federal and State payroll taxes, which in my opinion are taxes on jobs.

My question is this: Why do you think a summary document prepared by the White House says that that same policy strengthening the solvency of the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund reduces spending by 50 billion?

So to some extent the citizens, the taxpayers in your State would be far better off by giving up the deduction and taking lower Federal income tax rates, and they would be far better off as a result, I think.

the Subcommittee will hold a hearing on the proposed waiver of work requirements in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program.

While tens of thousands of children are adopted from foster care each year, twice as many foster children are still waiting for a permanent home.
