this is a very important amendment, and I hope the American people listen carefully to what is in it. As Senator Hatch indicated, it protects current beneficiaries. In other words, they are not going to cut benefits for those currently on Social Security. But if you are 63 years of age, 64 years of age, 65 years of age, watch out. They are going after you. I would suggest there is a way to extend the solvency of Social Security, and it deals with raising the cap and asking wealthy people to contribute more. We can make Social Security solvent for the next 50 years without cutting benefits for anybody. I urge a ``no'' vote on the Hatch amendment. The PRESIDING OFFICER. The question is on agreeing to amendment No. 498.
