The amendment is as follows: (Purpose: To establish a cap on costs for covered prescription drugs under Medicare parts B and D) Strike part 1 of subtitle B of title I and insert the following: PART 1--CAP ON COSTS FOR COVERED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS UNDER MEDICARE PARTS B AND D SEC. 11001. CAP ON COSTS FOR COVERED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS UNDER MEDICARE PARTS B AND D. (a) In General.--Title XVIII of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395 et seq.) is amended by adding at the end the following new section: ``SEC. 1899C. CAP ON COSTS FOR COVERED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS UNDER MEDICARE PARTS B AND D. ``(a) In General.--In no case may the amount of payment for a drug or biological under part B or a covered part D drug (as defined in section 1860D-2(e)) under a prescription drug plan under part D exceed the lower of the following: ``(1) The amount paid by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to procure the drug under the laws administered by the Secretary. ``(2) The amount paid to procure the drug through the Federal Supply Schedule of the General Services Administration.…
