The assistant bill clerk read as follows: The Senator from Vermont [Mr. Sanders] proposes an amendment numbered 2126 to amendment No. 1717. The amendment is as follows: (Purpose: To make sure the Senate can increase the Federal minimum wage to $17 an hour by a simple majority vote) At the appropriate place, insert the following: SEC. ___. INCREASING THE FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE TO $17 AN HOUR. The Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate may revise the allocations of a committee or committees, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in this resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger, for one or more bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports to increase the Federal minimum wage to at least $17 an hour over 5 years by the amounts provided in such legislation for those purposes.
