in town meetings and public forums, even before September 11, I saw in my district what the gentleman from Minnesota (Mr. Gutknecht) was describing in his district, grassroots America is fed up with massive illegal immigration, and they really want to see legal immigration curtailed, and that was that feeling in America before September 11 because these people are at the local level. They are in the counties and cities all across America, and they are seeing the impact in their communities. The gentleman talked about the INS officials that do not deport. A factor in that is once we deport them, if we send them north or if we send them south, they can make a U-turn and come right back in. I know the gentleman from Colorado (Mr. Tancredo) is the chief sponsor of the resolution focusing on the integrity of our borders, and I would like to see that resolution moved forward and get us tighter security on both the northern border and the southern border.
