Families in this district, they are working harder than ever, and they are falling behind on the rent.
This district exists because Utahns, like all of you, fought for fair maps and fought for the right to make your voices heard.
The same politicians who tried to silence voters before are still trying to protect their own power.
People are counting on us to stand up against corruption to stand up against the assault on our democracy.

I'm a candidate who can bring people from across the spectrum and rally them together and win tough elections. I've won tough elections before.
I think we need our strongest candidate on the field to protect fair maps.
The Utah GOP has already spent millions to try and overturn fair maps, and they’re not done.
The biggest battles that Utah Democrats have fought over the last years, I’ve led the charge, and I’ve fought, and I’ve won.
This detention center will be a scar on the face of Utah, and we must stop it. But it doesn’t stop there. We also must get ICE out of our American cities.
I’ve always been somebody who focuses on getting things done, because I believe the people who are counting on us can’t afford for us to let a purity test get in the way of progress.
I would just say from my perspective, it seems like you just made it much easier to have consumers get trapped in that cycle of debt.
Well, thank you, Mr. Chair, and I appreciate our Committee's attention to this really pressing issue of human trafficking, particularly the horrible new ways that perpetrators have found to target and to exploit children online.
I think it is particularly important we get the CRA correct, since its purpose, its historical purpose, was to address discrimination against Black and minority individuals and communities.
My perception is that Congress and the Fed have done a decent job of keeping the economy on life support.

CRA reform must preserve the spirit and intent of the CRA to benefit low- and-middle-income communities and individuals while also updating the CRA for a 21st Century financial system.
I want to just highlight some recent news, and that is the report from NASA and NOAA that showed that global average surface temperatures last year were nearly 1+ Celsius higher than the average from 1951 to 1980.
In a previous life, I was the mayor of Salt Lake County, and one of the areas where I was proud of our work was the ability to bring private sector resources to help address public sector problems.
