Mr. Speaker, pension security is close to the heart of every working American. Workers save for years with the hopes that after they retire they will be able to live without financial worries, spending more time with their family and friends. Five months ago the House passed a pension reform bill with significant bipartisan support. This legislation gives workers the freedom to diversify their retirement savings, it expands worker access to investment advice, empowers workers to hold company insiders accountable for abuses, and gives workers added protections. The House has acted on pension reform; the Senate has not. Yet Americans continue to worry about their retirement security. Mr. Speaker, Americans deserve a secure retirement. They expect it, and they have earned it.
