I thank the ranking member. I think it is important to state on the floor of the House that President Obama has been an outstanding Commander in Chief. I have served on the Judiciary Committee proudly for the tenure I have had in the United States Congress and on the Homeland Security Committee since the tragedy of 9/11. I am committed to engaging in efforts to develop policies that anticipate and respond to new and emerging challenges to the security of our Nation and to the peace and safety of the world. However, I will never forget September 11. 2,977 men, women, and children were murdered by 19 hijackers who took commercial aircraft and used them as missiles. I stood on the front steps of the Capitol and sang with Members of this Congress ``God Bless America.'' I visited the World Trade Center in the months and weeks after this heinous tragedy and grieved continuously each year as we commemorate, sadly, 9/11. 9/11 will always be remembered, and the loss of these families will always be painful and piercing. Just recently, the Judiciary Committee had a hearing on the bill the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act. The supporters of the bill offered powerful and compelling testimony in favor of ensuring that 9/11 families have access to their day in court against the parties directly and vicariously liable for the injuries that they suffer.…
