Let me thank my good friend from Colorado for managing this bill. Let me also thank the majority manager as well for coming to the floor and doing the people's bidding. Although we disagree in both the purpose of the underlying bill and its effectiveness, there is no doubt that this bill has a good cause. None of us take a backseat to protecting the American people, to seeking compensation, to bringing those who are missing or those who have been captured on false terms back home to American soil. And I stand here to make that commitment. As well, I recognize that we are going down the trail, Mr. Speaker, that we have done for the Affordable Care Act, one more attempt to undermine a legitimately debated initiative--the Iran nonnuclear proliferation--where Members made a conscious decision, personal decision, on reflecting on the best direction for the American people. In both the Senate and the procedures set out for this Congress to determine whether this bill, this initiative, will be turned back, it did not work. So it is the law of the land. It is an effort to ensure peace, to reconcile in the area, to stop the proliferation of nuclear weapons by Iran. It does not in any way diminish the United States' stance on Iran's terrorist activities. It does none of that. But this legislation, under the pretense of not allowing the sanctions to be relieved, has a very key component and a number of measures in that initiative.…
