I have an amendment at the desk. The CHAIR. The Clerk will designate the amendment. The text of the amendment is as follows: Add at the end the following new section: SEC. 3. STUDY. (a) In General.--Not later than the end of the 60-day period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of the Treasury shall begin a study to identify what aspects of the Home Affordable Modification Program were successful and most effectively carried out the original purpose of the Program. (b) Report.--Not later than the end of the 6-month period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall issue a report to the Congress containing-- (1) all findings and determinations made in carrying out the study required under subsection (a); and (2) legislative recommendations for a new mortgage modification program that could more successfully and effectively achieve the original purpose of the Home Affordable Modification Program. The CHAIR. Pursuant to House Resolution 170, the gentlewoman from Texas (Ms. Jackson Lee) and a Member opposed each will control 5 minutes. The Chair recognizes the gentlewoman from Texas.
