As I am the final speaker. First of all, I thank the gentleman from Texas for his very eloquent explanation of this legislation. Let me add my appreciation as well to Chairman Goodlatte, to Ranking Member Conyers, and to Chairman Sensenbrenner. It is certainly my pleasure to manage and to work with this legislation, in the purpose of this legislation. I close with just a few points that I feel compelled to comment on. As I do so, I am not giving all of the names of those fallen. As I have indicated, we tragically buried an HPD officer just a couple of weeks ago and, of course, officers in Mississippi, officers in New Mexico, in Omaha, Nebraska, and in Pennsylvania, among others. We recognize that we are challenged and that we must find that common ground. Again, I note that this kick start will help us to look at comprehensive criminal justice reform. Let me just add one last point on the young offenders issue that may be somewhat similar to the video that has now imploded across the airwaves of America in McKinney, Texas.…
