We have a D-Day every month on our Southern Border.

We have to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and community-destroying drugs across our Southwest Border.

I know the men and women of Border Patrol be highly professional and patriotic in their mission to secure our border.

It used to be in the old days, we had predominantly males crossing for work. Now we have more family units than ever crossing because the coyotes understand the legal loopholes.

I cannot think of a worse one than Venezuela, where trucks are attempting to get into the country to provide humanitarian aid and Maduro's forces are lighting them on fire and killing people.

I hope to work with the chairman on a resolution from the Congress, speaking on behalf of the American people, in support of what is happening down there against Maduro and for humanitarian assistance.

The socialist dictator policies of Nicolas Maduro have turned the country into a failed mafia cartel state.

I believe our Congress needs to directly recognize Interim President Juan Guaido and support his calls for a free and fair election.

I commend both of you, you and the Ranking Member, for this hearing.

I believe that both the House and committee rules do provide for the Minority to be able to call a witness at the hearing.

I think as the people of Venezuela see what their, I would say, illegitimate President is doing... they will rise up even more so.

I think it would be very important. I mean, we have 51 countries, including the United States now, that recognize him as the interim legitimate President of Venezuela.

For those remaining supporters of the regime, we have one simple message: your time is up.

The United States has effectively levied individual and sectoral sanctions on the Maduro regime.

The current crisis highlights the horrifying impact of socialism.

Since that time, Maduro's policies, rampant corruption, and violent crackdowns on peaceful political dissent have turned Venezuela into a failed State.

Today, the people of Venezuela have had enough, and over the last month they have started to take back their country that they love.

Foreign states, including Russia and other malicious actors have and will continue to attempt to interfere with U.S. elections.

In fact, I encouraged, in a Classified space, both the Obama administration and the Trump administration to call out Russia for their targeted attacks on our Nation.

The bill is vague and irresponsible. It will create doubts for our partners and allies around the world.

But this resolution stretches the definition of hostilities to cover non-U.S. military operations by other countries.

This resolution is trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole.
