I introduced legislation in this Congress to approve the 15-year extension of America's compact with Palau.
Unfortunately, however, 6 years later, that agreement to extend the compact has not been approved by Congress.
This is no way for our Nation to maintain influence on what is becoming, every day, a more strategically important and contested area of the world.
But we cannot be satisfied with this progress. We have got to be aggressive, as our adversaries are.
The events in Orlando are a reminder that our Nation is being targeted by those who want to undermine our freedom and diminish our prosperity.
It was the deadliest terrorist attack on the U.S. homeland since 9/11, but our response has shown that Americans are resilient and will not be intimidated by extremists.
