Today the Nation's Congress passed the Civil Rights Act of 1968. This is a victory for every American.
Our issues are new. Our alignments are new. Our styles are new. Our slogans are new.
They also agreed that the proposed Nonproliferation Treaty would greatly strengthen the foundations of peace and would be a significant step toward halting the arms race and the achievement of general and complete disarmament.
So, not as partisans, not as Democrats, and not as Republicans, but only and always as Americans let us look to the good that has been wrought.
