I believe that personal contact is essential to understanding--and I know that understanding is the foundation of our common effort.
May the practical example you have given us become the hallmark of this conference.
We are demonstrating that 'free men working through institutions of representative democracy can best satisfy man's ambitions.'
I was pleased to sign the loan, at the White House in 1965, that helped to make the promise of integration a reality.
