All this spin is supposed to make us respond positively: 'Wow! Happy days are here again. The recovery must be really gaining steam.' And we are supposed to conclude that maybe we don't need to throw out the Democrats in the midterm elections after all. The June jobs numbers show unemployment falling .2 percent to 9.5 percent. This may sound, or this may seem, like an improvement until you realize that this decrease is almost all caused by an additional 611,000 Americans giving up on finding jobs last month.
