Under H.R. 5340, the U.S. Geological Survey will supplement, coordinate and manage data collection on sediments and nutrients in the Upper Mississippi River Basin. The data would be used to provide the baseline data and modeling tools needed to make the scientifically sound and cost-effective river management decisions. The House passed a similar version of this bill in the 108th Congress, and I urge my colleagues to support the bill at this time.
