Let us face it, folks, this bill without the motion to recommit leaves the whole question of security for the traveling public in a holding pattern. It is time to get it out of the holding pattern and bring it down to Earth. Because when you ask the American people tonight what their concerns are, it is, is it safe? Is it secure? Will somebody else be sneaking by the minimum wage employees that are out at the airport something that is unsafe? This is the first measure considered on this floor that does something to address that concern. It will not hold this bill up a bit. Let us approve it and answer the basic concern of the American people. Flying is safe, it can be safe, if we are assured we have the security there and it is not somebody who is concerned with our most basic security who could not get a job somewhere else.
