The Senator from California and myself and other States took a back seat to the Florida highway needs after the hurricane, but we got assurances from the Speaker, the majority leader of the Senate, and the chairman of the Appropriations Committee on the House side that we would address this issue and get the funds for previous emergencies from the highway fund back into the 39 States that gave them up for Florida to receive help right now.”
