I just want to say that in the subcommittee we had hearings on parts of this bill. We had no hearings on this. No evidence was brought forth to tell us if there was a need to import nurses to take the jobs of American nurses that are working today. Without any evidence of that and with clear evidence having been brought forth in this debate that there is no need whatsoever for this program to be extended, I strongly urge Members to vote no. The fact of the matter is that these American nurses deserve to be able to compete for jobs inside of our domestic economy without having to worry about imported workers working more cheaply.
