It’s interesting, because what we have decided is that this has to be an inside-outside type of attack, right? And so that’s what we have done. We have applied pressure. And I’m of the impression that we’re starting to burst pipes.

You are allowing a radical few to control and blockade democracy for the most. And it’s a problem.

Texas already makes it harder than every other state to vote. We simply say we want nice things in Texas, too, right?

It’s unfortunate, in addition to that, that you see someone like Congresswoman Beatty, who was arrested. And you juxtapose that with January 6th, and the number of criminals that still have not been arrested.

I am only the 22nd black woman ever elected in the Texas House. The first ever elected black woman is actually here with us, Senfronia Thompson.

Use the power you have to pass voting legislation to preserve and protect the right to vote across the country, please.

All we’re asking is that those that are in charge here in D.C., the Democratic leadership, push through something that is good, not just for the state of Texas. This is a crisis that we are suffering from in this country.

they’re lying. Let me tell you something, and they’re still lying. I mean, it’s sad to see that now the only game that the Republicans have to play is to lie and to cheat.

when democracy is on the line, I think that those that truly understand what we are supposed to be in this country, we don’t compromise.

The House Democrats here in Texas decided enough was enough. We came back in good faith once again, trying to always be the bigger people. The Republicans have their marching orders from the governor. It didn’t matter what anyone said…

The reality is that, what we see happening in Texas, it`s not just Texas. This is something that`s going on in the entire country. And so I really do implore our lawmakers to understand that democracy is on the line.
