Do we want to continue to grow more dependent on other nations to meet our energy needs, or do we want to do what is necessary to achieve greater control of our economic destiny?

Technology is the ticket, is this Nation's ticket to greater energy independence, and that's what I want to talk about today.

This is a time when we should be welcoming ideas, not getting into ruling things out.

We have a serious problem. Why aren't you doing something about it?

Galveston public employees have ownership of their retirement income, which means they can pass on their nest eggs to their children and do not face the risk that the government will decide to cut their benefits.

Unfortunately, Senate Democratic leaders -- I mean, some Democratic leaders continue to simply stand in the way of a solution.

Now is the time for Congress to set aside political differences and come to the table in good faith to solve this problem.

I think there are examples in Galveston County, some where people have realized a rate of return that's almost twice as much as what they would have realized under the current Social Security system.

To me, that says we got a problem.

Social Security has worked really well for a lot of people.

We would hope that the Democrat leaders would start coming to the table with ideas for solving the problem, instead of simply standing in the way of solutions.

Nobody has ever had a check taken away from them yet, and nobody will.

I believe we have a serious problem.

The American people want to see Congress act and solve this problem.

The strength of the United States of America lies in the hearts and souls of our citizens.

We renewed our personal friendship and that between our nations.

This is an important relationship—personal relationship with the Crown Prince is important.

We honor the memory of the victims of terrorism—and those who have lost their lives fighting terrorists.

One thing is for certain: I need to sign an energy bill.

I'll be glad to answer those questions at a later time.

Both nations pledge to continue their cooperation so that the oil supply from Saudi Arabia will be available and secure.

The United States respects Saudi Arabia as the birthplace of Islam, one of the world's great religions.

The price of crude is driving the price of gasoline.

Now is the time for something to happen.

We will continue our efforts to achieve this objective, and reiterate our support for the efforts of the Palestinian Authority to bring democracy, peace, and prosperity to all Palestinians.
