The United States is committed to achieving stability, lasting peace, and the restoration of basic human rights for the people of Darfur.

Our Nation is appalled by the genocide in Darfur.

I send my greetings to those participating in events around the world protesting the situation in Darfur.

We call on the Government of the Republic of Sudan and the rebel groups to cease fighting and pursue peace.

The bill also provides the producing States of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama a share in the royalty revenues from OCS leases.

Laura and I thank the House and Senate for reauthorizing the Ryan White CARE Act.

I commend Congress for passing the Outer Continental Shelf legislation, which will help to reduce our dependence on imported sources of energy by increasing access to domestic sources of oil and gas.

I appreciate the commitment by the State of Louisiana to use revenues from these leases to restore coastal wetlands.

This legislation focuses on lifesaving and life-extending services and increased accountability.

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998, 5 U.S.C. 3345 et seq., I hereby order that:

I look forward to working with Senator Reid and Congresswoman Pelosi for doing what's right for the country.

I believe in trade, and I believe in the necessity of trade.

Freedom is replacing tyranny and giving men and women the opportunity to enjoy lives of purpose and dignity.

That's what they expect us to do; they expect us to work on big problems and solve them.

I would call our relations strong and good and necessary.

I think we ought to meet on a regular basis; I believe there's consensus toward that.

I always enjoy our discussions.

We will keep them close to our hearts and in our prayers.

I believe we need a new approach.

We'll support the democratic Government of Prime Minister Maliki.

And now, as an expression of our own hope for peace in this Christmas season, we will light the National Tree.
