Now, Therefore, I, George Bush, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim the month of October 1990 as Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month.

Republicans believe that power should be in the hands of people, not in the Government in Washington, DC.

I'm sure you've been watching the news about these budget negotiations with Congress.

Hawaii cries insistently to a divided world that all our differences of race and origin are less than the grand and indestructible unity of our common brotherhood.

I am determined to do my level best, in a spirit of compromise and in a spirit of outreach, to get an agreement that puts a stop to this congressional spending binge.

For the sake of the Nation, we have to reduce the deficit now.

We need her. She is outstanding.

I believe the American people do deserve clean air.

Partisanship stops at the water's edge.

In short, we do want to build a better America.

Hawaii is a wonderfully welcoming place.

The budget, regrettably, isn't the only thing we've waited for.

I feel we've got a winner out there.

The voters are fed up.

America needs that spirit of aloha in the United States Senate.

We are united in the opposition to the tax-and-spend policies of the Democrats.

We're totally united in our determination to take a sound, strong Republican message across this country.

We have to keep the taxes down, get the spending down, and get this message out across the country.

I haven't given up my interest in incentives to get this economy moving, but we will see.

We're the party that's trying to keep the taxes down.

I feel if we had more Republicans, like everyone of them standing here, we wouldn't be in this fiscal mess.

Some will, and some won't. But the point is we're unified and trying to win these elections, and that's what this is about.

We're going to try to change all that.
