It is amazing too that our seniors who work very hard to make this country prosperous and successful do not have access to affordable drugs. H.R. 1885, the International Prescription Drug Parity Act is one way that we can make it available to them by financial relief so they can buy the medication they need to maintain their health. It is widely reported that prescription drug prices are lower in foreign countries. In fact, studies in my own district show from Houston, Texas, we can go down to Mexico and get the same drug for lower costs; in fact, half the price. Mr. Speaker, I know that myself, because I have done that myself. When I have been traveling in Latin America, Mexico, Costa Rica, I can buy the same drugs that I buy in the United States for significantly less. While I would have hoped that by now we would have passed a prescription drug plan that works, why not let us reimport these drugs.
