I have never spoken to my colleagues from this mike, that I can remember. Mr. Speaker, we do not enjoy what we are doing today, but I am proud to follow my colleague, the gentleman from Missouri (Mr. Hulshof). When we have to discipline ourselves, it is a task we try to avoid. We avoid it to give due process to the accused, but in all reality, we really do not want to air our dirty linen in public. We really do not. Nobody does. Because we are a family, and families do not do that. With that said, I could not be more proud in my four of five terms here. I did not want the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, but I am proud to serve on it with the gentleman from Colorado (Mr. Hefley) as the Chair and the gentleman from California (Mr. Berman) as our ranking member. This is not something that any of us wanted. In fact, we would resign tomorrow, except it is our duty. This is the people's House and we have to do our job. If we cannot remove a Member of Congress who has been convicted of 10 felonies, including using his office for personal gain, we risk losing the faith and trust of the American people that we have.
