Our residents, especially our homeless veterans, are real people with real problems that can be solved.

I think one of the great challenges we have... is finding houses for veterans.

But for many veterans, about 80 percent of the veterans that we see have substance abuse and mental illness problems.

Homelessness, you can cure that with some job skills and a job. I mean, that is how you cure homelessness.

We have 133,000 or so homeless veterans. And in 5 years, General Shinseki has wanted to reduce that to, obviously it will not get to zero, but to a very manageable number.

Are we as a country giving all to ensure our returning veterans have what they need to be a contributing part of our community and country?
