Compromise is the oxygen of democracy. And Bob Dole provided a lot of oxygen over those years he was in Senate leadership.

I have a sense that the time has come for real constructive bipartisan action on healthcare.

We need to send that message. And it seems to me payment reform and tuition assistance are two powerful tools to do it.

Reform is urgently needed, and Tom Daschle is just the person for the job.
