“I don't know of a bill that deserves more urgency than this one. I don't know of a bill that ought to be the source of unity as we look at the array of challenges that our country is currently facing. This afternoon, we were given one of the finest briefings that I have heard in recent years by the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense. They did an outstanding job in laying out the challenges that we have to face, not only in the short term but in the longer term. At the very least, it seems to me, the Senate ought to respond to the tremendous challenges we face by providing the support that we can to this administration at a time of need.”
