I believe these issues are caused by the flawed design of the USPS network, which all but guarantees that mail traveling across or to South Dakota must travel in a circuitous manner through locations around and outside of the state.

The departure of General Haugh is a loss for our nation but will be a tremendous gain for any private or public entity where he decides to lend his expertise and leadership.

We do not have enough of these types of leaders, and a loss of any one of them without strong justification is disappointing.
Because it gives our Democrat colleagues a reason not to work with us and to protest the bipartisan approach that we’ve taken on appropriations.
I think that they should be extended. I think there’s plans in place right now to try to extend them.
In order for me to support this legislation, we had to find a way to continue support for these radio stations which offer potentially life saving information in some of the most rural parts of our nation.
It really is best for the economic conditions in our country that the markets understand that the Fed really is independent.
I will now vote to support President Trump’s rescissions package to clawback $9.4 billion in federal spending.
This is a direct agreement with OMB that they would transfer the funds over to the Department of the Interior.
If you do appropriations in the Senate, you have 60 votes to support it. If you do rescissions, you can take it back with 50, which then makes it tougher to get a bipartisan agreement on an appropriations package.
We are aware of the sensitivities of using a rescissions package versus the appropriations process.
There’s been a facade out there about the entire program actually paying for itself.
We can negotiate about a lot of other things, except for spectrum, which has got to come out.
This is not just a missed opportunity. It undermines our ability to meet national security goals tied to mineral independence and supply chain resilience.
