In response to the concerns raised by the senior Senator from Pennsylvania, I would note that I made my point in our recent correspondence that it is important to be openminded and innovative in thinking about airport funding at a time of declining Federal resources. Undoubtedly, the privatization issue will be taken up by the conference and I look forward to working with my colleagues to address the needs of general aviation airports, such as Allegheny County Airport. If the conferees determine that a privatization pilot program is appropriate for general aviation airports, I am sure that we will accord Allegheny County Airport all due consideration for inclusion in any such program and would hope that the agency would do likewise.
